We therefore aim to achieve:

  • Fair prices for the commodities
  • Organic farming
  • Environmental protection
  • International trade
  • Sustainable livelihoods
  • Lasting grower/consumer relationships

We have identified three levels of sustainability to the farmer:

  1. Fair and just prices, because the consumers receive their "fair price" coffee beans directly from growers in Kenya, and not through some middleman distributor, the farmers make more money.

  2. Healthy working conditions brought forth by organic farming, which requires that farmers add no chemicals to their farms.

  3. Bird and environment friendly conditions.  Making money while protecting the environment is a new model.  We are working to support growers who want to make a profit while remaining committed to their communities and surrounding environment.  For example, Shade grown coffees encourage crop diversification.  By growing coffee under shade trees such as macadamia and bananas, farmers triple their benefits; two cash crops and bird friendliness.
