Larry's Beans is an independent coffee roaster and distributor based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. Their mission spans wider than simply roasting and distributing the most delicious coffee beans from all over the world. Larry also concerns himself greatly with his environmental impact and sells only organic, shade grown, and fair trade coffee beans.
Our small migratory birds from the tropics latched onto this project immediately. The Prothonotary Warblers, Acadian Flycatchers and Willow Flycatchers were all quite thankful for the recent efforts shade grown coffee farmers were making in keeping their homes safe. Because Larry and the crew were such strong supporters of these efforts, the birds felt obliged to help Larry out with his new home and were particularly interested in educating the public on such matters of sustainability.
Because there needed to be so much information on one site, however, the small migratory birds from the tropics decided to contract out most of the structural work to the Great Blue Herons whose multi-nest-homes, called rookeries, are especially large and impressive.
Now with the Herons on board, the birds knew that they could handle the serious side of the web site, but neither group of birds could quite capture Larry's quirky nature. Seeing their difficulties, one of our secretaries, an Eastern Towhee, volunteered his general asthetic to the project and from there, everything fell into place.
